Policy and Planning
The Governor's Workforce Board (GWB) is formally established under RI General Law 42-102 as the state's primary policy-making body on workforce development matters. In this role, GWB oversees and coordinates both federal workforce development policy (through implementation of the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA)) and state workforce development policy (through allocation of the Job Development Fund (JDF)). The Board consists of 23 members representing business, labor, education, community, and government with the statutory responsibility and authority to plan, coordinate, fund, and evaluate nearly all statewide workforce development activities.
