Incumbent Worker Training Grants

The Incumbent Worker Training Grant Program is designed to help employers remain competitive and help workers maintain and advance in their careers. It provides a 50% to 100% reimbursement for eligible costs on eligible training activities. All Rhode Island employers who meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the program guide may apply.

***The Incumbent Worker Training Grant Program is temporarily closed. We will not be accepting new applications while we implement policy and program improvements. 

We anticipate that the program will reopen on Tuesday, March 3rd.

Total FY26 Funding Available: $1,000,000 (as of 11/5/25, the majority of FY26 funds were encumbered) 

Maximum Annual Award Amount: $25,000
