PrepareRI is run by an inter-agency task force consisting of staff from the Department of Education, the Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner, and the Governor’s Workforce Board. The initiative consists of a variety of individual programs with the goal of preparing students for in-demand jobs. It was built on the belief that all young people – regardless of their background or intended career – will need some form of postsecondary credential and work experience to be successful; and it is meant to ensure that employers will have a skilled workforce to thrive in the economy of tomorrow.

The PrepareRI High School Summer Internship Program provides paid summer internships for 250+ high school juniors in Rhode Island each year. The Governor’s Workforce Board is the primary funder of this program and has contracted with Skills for Rhode Island’s Future to administer it.
